A few months ago VisArt Video announced that it was relocating. They’ve found a new spot in Eastway Crossing. While redevelopment and growth in east Charlotte has displaced some long-time businesses, it is great to see small business owners stay in the area. There are many affordable store front locations in east Charlotte.

We recently shared plans for a new apartment development at former Roy White’s Flowers location in east Charlotte’s Elizabeth neighborhood. Across the street plans for the site of restaurants Jackalope Jacks and the now-closed Philosopher’s Stone Tavern were submitted this week. Developer Faison in its rezoning application for a 1.7-acre site at the corner of East Seventh Street and Caswell Road is proposing an apartment project with as many as 200 units and up to 15,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space.

Charlotte Agenda details the new development planned for 7th Street in east Charlotte’s Elizabeth neighborhood. Developers plan to build a 3- to 4-story 95-unit multi-family apartment complex on 7th Street between Pecan and Clement. Katie’s article refers to an adjacent Family Dollar but it’s actually a Dollar General.
