One of Plaza Midwoods newest additions, Ajbani (literally, “I Like”) offers delicious Moroccan fare that is approachable and modern, yet holds a passion for authenticity. Moroccan native, Hamza Seqqat, and Chef Craig Linthicum teamed up to create Ajbani, recognizing a gap in the neighborhood for the cuisine and a pressing need for healthy, clean and easily accessible food.
The result of this mash up is a menu that is filled with a robust balance of hearty Moroccan favorites like Beef Tajine with Prunes and Almonds, innovative creations such as the Berber Chicken Couscous with Orange and Olive Topper, and vegan-friendly 7veggie Couscous with Preserved Peppers. Ajbani’s menu, 2/3rds of which is Vegan, boasts numerous healthful alternatives, and can meet nearly any dietary restriction, using Halal meats, largely organic and local ingredients, and expanding gluten-free offerings (Quinoa substitution for couscous, coming soon!). Couscous, the star of Moroccan cuisine, is made daily, the traditional way (steamed in multiple batches over an aromatic broth) and a testament to the care put into Ajbani’s cuisine; the labor of love, resulting in perfectly fluffy and individual grains, that hold up to the generous helping of stews and Tajines.
Don’t let the push for the health conscious fool you, Chef Craig also offers numerous delights to satisfy the munchies, like the popular Harissa-spiked fried falafel, fan favorite Lamb/Vegan Briouats (Moroccan fried samosas), and scrumptious Chocolate-Tahini Truffles.
Ajbani is open for take-out, daily from 4pm until 10pm (closed Mondays) and is located at 2301 Central Ave.
